About Us
For several years, Sunshine Acre’s Children’s Home has been working with Good360, a national non-profit and global leader in product philanthropy, to distribute major national retailer products to charities throughout our Arizona community. In 2020, at the height of the global pandemic, Sunshine Acre’s invested further in the relationship with Good360 knowing that Arizona would have a tremendous need in helping the over 3000 charities throughout the state meet the goals for the populations they support. “We see the need every day in the people we serve and the charities that we interact with. AZ Goods is an extension of my great grandparent’s mission and allows us to impact the lives of children and their families throughout Arizona which we are all very excited about”, says Kevin Humphrey, Executive Director and Great Grandson of Sunshine Acre’s founders, Rev. Jim and Vera Dingman.
Sunshine Acres Children’s Home was founded in 1954 by Jim & Vera Dingman. Their daughter, Carol Whitworth, has been President and CEO for the last 40 years of her 60-year tenure. Kevin Humphrey, Executive Director happens to be the great grandson of the founders and has been running the home since 2011.
Sunshine Acres is a faith-based home and fully funded by generous contributions by private donors and estate gifts. Sunshine Acres does not receive State or Federal money for the care of the children and saves taxpayers over $3 million a year. Currently we care for 70 children and our master plan is to eventually care for 100. Each of the 7 children’s residences has up to 10 children with a loving married couple living with them as a family.
